At FUMC our Ministry Programs include Children, Youth & Young Adults, Women & Men, Adults & Seniors. And we strive to provide opportunities for all ages in worship, music & the arts, spiritual formation, fellowship, and nurture.
Offering a variety of activities is the goal of our Children’s Ministry, to help children and their families encounter Christ in a real and meaningful way. FUMC is a Safe Sanctuary congregation -- all volunteers are screened through a background check and are trained to work with children.
Kay Childres leads our Senior Adult Ministries. Our Senoir Adults have classes and other activities in which they participate within the life of the congregation. Many of our members are Senoir Adults, they are very active, and no matter the age, they always find a way to participate, and for that we are always grateful.
Our Student Ministry at FUMC is a growing group of students that aim to help each other cultivate their faith and live life together. To accomplish this they participate in life-changing mission opportunities, learn about God’s love for us through themed programs, engage in meaningful worship experiences, and have fun together! Our hope is that our teenagers will develop a clear sense of God’s call in their lives and develop a mature faith that will endure the challenges of today.
Adults & Young Adults
There are many opportunities for our adults to be involved here at First UMC. Each of us should have a growing faith and continue to develop God’s good gifts. Through one of the following programs we hope you will find a place for personal grow and development.
Confirmation is an intense series of discipleship classes geared toward youth, which marks the beginning of a lifetime of mature spiritual discovery. Confirmation is a way to help our youth understand that God has called them to the church, and that this call is not just a “one-time” experience, but a lifelong experience, extending far beyond the confirmation experience. It is a time to affirm God’s movement in their lives, and help them to develop a deep desire to follow Jesus Christ. It is an opportunity for youth to explore and learn about the Christian faith and United Methodism.
Music is a key aspect to the FUMC Worship and all are welcome to participate in the choir, praise band, handbells, liturgical dance, and more. Dr. Amalie Hinson leads our Music & Worship Arts programming.
